New Ideas and Emerging Results - Call for Papers

Goal and Scope

The goal of the New Ideas and Emerging Results (NIER) track is to provide researchers and practitioners with a forum for presenting innovative, promising ideas in the early stages of research. The NIER track provides constructive feedback by fostering discussion around challenging, cutting-edge and innovative early-stage research. As such, these ideas do not require a strong empirical evaluation, but preliminary results providing initial support for the feasibility of proposed ideas are welcomed. The topics of interest for this track are the same as for the main research track, that is, all the topics in the research and practice of software maintenance and evolution. Papers submitted to ICSME NIER 2022 must not have been published elsewhere and must not be under review or submitted for review elsewhere while under consideration for ICSME NIER 2022.

Evaluation

Submissions will be evaluated on how well it characterizes one or more of the following:

  • The basis of the contribution’s originality
  • The importance of the contribution
  • The potential spur discussion
  • The potential to challenge/disrupt current practices
  • Soundness
  • Overall quality and consistency of presentation,
  • Appropriate comparison to related work

Special emphasis will be put on the originality and timeliness of the proposed contribution, that is, a full evaluation of the proposed ideas is not required. Each submission will be reviewed by at least three members of the ICSME NIER 2022 Program Committee.
